Kaduna, Nigeria - The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued 23 victims who were kidnapped by bandits in Kaduna State, in a recent operation aimed at curbing the persistent insecurity in the region. The military also arrested several suspected bandits during the rescue mission, signaling a significant breakthrough in the fight against criminal gangs terrorizing local communities.
The operation was conducted by troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Division, under the command of Major General Faruk Yahaya. According to a statement released by the Army, intelligence reports led to the identification of the bandits’ hideout in the rugged terrains of Kaduna, enabling the swift and coordinated assault that resulted in the liberation of the victims.
The rescued individuals, who had been held captive for several weeks, were found in a safe condition and have since been handed over to relevant authorities for medical attention and further care. The Army also recovered weapons and ammunition from the bandits during the raid, further weakening the criminal network.
This successful operation comes amid increasing concerns over the surge in kidnappings and banditry in Northern Nigeria, which have caused widespread fear, displacement, and disruption of daily life. Kaduna State, in particular, has been a hotspot for violent attacks, with communities often caught in the crossfire between security forces and armed groups.
The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to restoring peace and security in the region, pledging to intensify efforts to dismantle criminal gangs and protect innocent civilians. The rescue mission is being hailed as a morale booster for security agencies and a beacon of hope for residents who have endured months of insecurity and uncertainty.
Local leaders and residents have expressed gratitude to the military for the timely intervention, urging continued vigilance and cooperation with security forces to sustain the gains made. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the bandit groups and prevent further attacks.
