Tinubu Breaks Jinx of Marginalisation in South-East, Says Minister Dave Umahi

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has praised Tinubu for ending the long-standing marginalisation of Nigeria’s South-East region in political representation and infrastructural development.

Speaking over the weekend during a civic reception in Okposi Okwu community, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Umahi highlighted that Tinubu’s administration has ushered in a new era of inclusion for the South-East, a region that has historically felt sidelined despite being one of Nigeria’s major ethnic groups.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Uchenna Orji, Umahi expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for ensuring an equitable distribution of the dividends of democracy across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. He said, “The Minister thanked the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for breaking the jinx of marginalisation in the South-East through equitable distribution of the dividends of democracy.”

Umahi also noted that his own appointment as Minister of Works marks a historic milestone in Nigeria’s post-independence history, symbolizing a significant shift towards greater inclusion for the South-East.

This endorsement comes shortly after Umahi confidently predicted that both President Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani would each serve two terms in office.

During the launch of the second phase of the Kaduna-Abuja-Kano road construction project last week, Umahi declared, “I want to assure you, my dear governor, Uba Sani, that I am also a prophet. It was only David in the Bible that was prophet and a preacher, and God has told me that you will do 8 years, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu will do 8 years.”

Umahi’s remarks underscore growing optimism among some political leaders in the South-East about increased federal attention and infrastructural investment under the Tinubu administration.
