Wizkid’s “Morayo” Surpasses 300 Million Spotify Streams, Setting New Records

Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has achieved a remarkable milestone as his latest album, Morayo, has surpassed 300 million streams on Spotify, making it his second album to cross this impressive mark on the platform. This achievement cements Wizkid’s position as one of the most streamed African artists globally.

Morayo, which means “I see joy” in Yoruba, was released in November 2024 as a heartfelt tribute to Wizkid’s late mother, Juliana Balogun. The album has resonated deeply with fans, featuring a diverse range of collaborations and showcasing Wizkid’s signature Afrobeat sound. Notably, tracks like “Kese (Dance)” set records with 1.5 million streams on their opening day in Nigeria, while “Piece of My Heart” also surpassed one million opening day streams on Spotify.

In addition to this streaming milestone, Morayo holds the record for the biggest second-day streams for any album on Nigerian Spotify, amassing 5.47 million streams. This feat places it ahead of other major releases, including Davido’s 5ive album, which earned 3.6 million streams on its second day, making it the second biggest second-day stream for any album on the platform.

Wizkid’s dominance on streaming platforms reflects his continued influence and popularity in the global music scene. His ability to blend Afrobeat rhythms with contemporary sounds has earned him critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase worldwide. Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian star Davido’s 5ive album continues to perform strongly, securing multiple number one spots on Apple Music across various countries and maintaining a strong presence on Spotify charts.

As Morayo continues to break records and captivate listeners, Wizkid’s legacy as a trailblazer in African music is further solidified, inspiring a new generation of artists and fans alike.
